Frequently asked questions
What is included in the session price?
Your session price includes the use of single and double rings and, where available, bodyboards. Spectators are free, so you only need to pay for those taking part.
When should I arrive?
We recommend arriving 20 minutes before your session start time. Sessions are often busy and processing can take time, so arriving early means you can check in without any rush, get organised and ease into the session before heading up.
How long does my session last?
Each session lasts approximately one hour this includes a short safety briefing at the start. The final slide is called at the end of the session to keep everything running on time, giving you plenty of time on the slide to get as many runs in as you can.
How do I check in?
To keep things streamlined, only the booker needs to check in at reception — the rest of the party can head straight through to the spectator area.
No need to print your ticket or confirmation, we’ll find your booking using the booker’s details. Once checked in and disclaimers are confirmed, we’ll issue wristbands to all participants after which you can chill out and wait for your wristband colour to be called.
Do I need to sign a disclaimer?
Yes, all participants must have a completed disclaimer before their session. If any disclaimers are outstanding, we’re unable to issue wristbands until they are completed, so it’s best to get these done in advance to avoid delays on arrival.
If you didn’t fill out a disclaimer no need to panic, you can download one HERE. Paper disclaimers are also available on site, for which an administration fee of £1.00 per disclaimer will be charged as they will need to be processed manually after your visit.
Do I need to watch a safety video?
We strongly recommend watching the safety video before you arrive so you know exactly what to expect before you get here. We’ll still run through a short safety briefing on site before your session starts.
What should I wear?
You will get wet, so come prepared.
Most people wear swimwear, shorts and a t-shirt. You’re free to wear what you like as long as it’s suitable for water use and doesn’t have exposed rivets, studs, zips* or anything that could damage the slide. Eyewear is worn at your own risk and, if needed, should be secured with a glasses band.
We advise covering exposed skin because of the risk of friction burns, all jewellery should be removed (earrings must be covered by a waterproof plaster).
If you’d like to body slide, a wetsuit is required. You can bring your own or hire one on site, subject to available stock and sizes.
For footwear, you’ll need non-slip foot covering such as grip socks, trampolining socks, beach shoes, wet shoes, or wetsuit boots. Trainers and similar footwear are not permitted. We do sell grip socks on site for £2.50 per pair.
*Wetsuit zips must be on the back of the suit and the zip covered by a flap
Are there toilets?
Yes, basic toilet facilities are provided on site.
Are there changing facilities?
We provide modesty changing areas on site. They are not fully private rooms, so most people arrive ready or just get changed quickly before their session.
What other facilities are on site?
We’ve got everything you need to look after you during your visit. There are toilets, seating areas, and a catering trailer serving snacks and drinks, so whether you’re sliding or spectating, you’ve got somewhere to relax in between runs.
There is also a large on-site car park for easy access.
Are there lockers?
No, we advise you to lock all valuables in your car. We do offer a secure key holding service for £1, so you can enjoy your session without worrying about where your keys are.
What happens if I arrive late?
If you arrive late, we’ll get you checked in and briefed as quickly as possible so you can still take part. However, sessions can’t be extended to make up for lost time, so it’s always best to arrive a little early.
What if the weather is bad?
We still operate when it’s raining, you’re going to get wet anyway.
However, sessions may be paused or cancelled in strong winds or if there is thunder and lightning overhead, and last-minute weather calls can happen when conditions are changeable.
If Mega Slip and Slide has to cancel, customers are emailed to rearrange or organise a refund and if you have not heard from the team, you should still travel to site for your session. We always advise checking the booker’s email and Facebook before travelling.
What is your cancellation policy?
For full details, please see the Cancellation Policy on the booking site (just follow the booking link for Dorset or Cornwall).
Is there an age limit?
The minimum age is 4 years old. Anyone aged 17 and under must always supervised by an adult.
All participants must be confident in and around water, and all sliders need to be able to walk up a staircase or have personal assistance to help access the slide. Spectators are not permitted on the launch tower or between the slides.
Are there any height or weight limits?
At our Dorset site, there are strict safety limits in place. The maximum weight is 19 stone and the maximum height is 6ft 6.
There are no height or weight limits at our Cornwall site.
Can spectators come along?
Yes, spectators are welcome and free. We have approximately 25 picnic benches on site, plus a catering trailer for snacks and drinks, so they can relax, watch the action, and enjoy the atmosphere while you’re on the slide.
Are dogs allowed?
Dorset: Dogs are not permitted on the site due to the proximity of the A31. This is a condition imposed on us by The National Highways Agency.
Cornwall: Well-behaved dogs are welcome, provided they are kept on a lead and any mess is cleaned up.
What are the safety rules?
Water activities are supervised by trained staff, but participation is at your own risk. Watch the safety video before you arrive.
All customers must sign a waiver before entering the site. Site rules must be understood before entry is granted. Children under 17 remain the responsibility of their accompanying parent or guardian and must always supervised.
Customers are required to follow staff instructions at all times.
Do I need to book in advance?
We can take walk-in bookings, but if a session is full, we won’t be able to accommodate you. Spaces are limited and sessions do sell out quickly, so booking in advance is always the safest option.
Do you take group bookings? How about birthday parties?
Yes, for standard group bookings, just use the normal booking procedure. For larger groups, please see the Group Bookings page.
Do you offer exclusive use?
Exclusive use is not offered during August. We have some availability in July for large groups of 80 people or more. For further information, customers should email info@megaslipandslide.com.
Do you offer carer tickets?
Yes, these must be arranged in advance.
Book your session as normal, then email your booking confirmation to info@megaslipandslide.com and we’ll add a free carer ticket where applicable.
Carer tickets must not be booked through the booking website and cannot be added on the day. Valid ID will be required on arrival.
